Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software provides support for individuals who want to create accessible web content. With Illustrator, users can proof images with Color Universal Design (CUD) to help ensure that graphical information is conveyed accurately to people with various types of color vision impairments, including those with color vision deficiencies. They can be configured to always add an alt attribute to image elements. Illustrator also enables users to specify alternative text descriptions for image slices.
These softwares support CUD through soft proofing features, which can stimulate color blindness. This feature allows the designer to see what the image will look like for people with different types of color vision deficiencies, such as protanopia and deuteranopia since they are the most common forms. Color vision deficiency simulation makes it easier to create accessible signage and other artwork for those who do not have a vision deficiency themselves.
